Stimulus saves day?

Back in March, President Obama traveled around the country telling Americans the benefits they were and would reap from signing the $787 billion Stimulus bill. He even warned that America might not survive if the bill was not passed. One of the success stories the President highlighted was in Columbus, Ohio -- where 25 new police officers jobs were saved. How is that working out for them just a few short months later?

Remember when Obama traveled to Columbus to speak at the graduation ceremony for 25 police recruits who owe their jobs to the economic recovery bill he signed into law just less than three weeks earlier? Obama also said this of the stimulus, said it includes aid to state and local governments to prevent firefighters and police recruits, recruits like the ones in Columbus, Ohio who were told that instead of being sworn in as officers, they would be let go. Well, it's been 100 days since the signing of the stimulus package. You know, the one they had to signed or else America would die. Well, what happened since then? Since the cameras were turned off and the president flew home and nobody's watching Columbus, Ohio.

For $787,000 Billion, there should have been a flood of success stories like Columbus? Jeez, what's happened? And the "Obama Times/CNN" would have been bringing these wonderful stories from all over the US showing us the results of his stimulus.

Unemployment in January, 7.5, February 8.1. March 8.5. April, 8.9. Good thing we passed that stimulus package. America would have 'really' been struggling without that stimulus, huh?

How are things going in Columbus, Ohio with those new officers that are on the street? Have we thanked President Obama for their jobs? Columbus has to go to the polls in August. The Columbus dispatch says if voters turn down a proposed income tax hike in August, nearly 300 police officers will lose their job. The 25 new officers who shook the president's hand will be among the first to go.

Wait a minute. So is that how the stimulus works? You dump billions of taxpayer dollars into the states to save them but it still doesn't work unless local taxes are also jacked up? I mean, I thought the stimulus funds were paying for those jobs. Why does Ohio need another tax hike to pay for the police officers that the stimulus funds just paid for?

Well, no matter what, President Obama got his photo op that day with the police officers which included this touching moment, looking at the graduates receiving their diplomas, Obama said, quote, this economy needs your employment to keep it running. I look into their eyes and I see their badges today and I know we did the right thing, end quote. No word on if Obama's planning on apologizing to the officers and to America for wasting taxpayers' funds on something that the City of Columbus was going to be forced to pay for and should be paying for itself anyway. And wasting our money on something Press Secretary Robert Gibbs now admits "Is only temporary."

FAREWELL... Renaissance Fair Rocker

The credit card reform bill signed into law by the president on Friday won't just put a stop to several unfair practices of the credit card industry -- it also targets misleading advertisements for phony "free" credit reports.

The "free credit report" advertised non-stop on cable television, it bears repeating, isn't free at all. The law calls for the Federal Trade Commission to issue new rules that will force free credit report advertisers to inform consumers that the only place for a free credit report is AnnualCreditReport.com.

Television and radio ads will also be required to include a pretty deflating statement: "This is not the free credit report provided for by Federal law."

It's hard to see how the FreeCreditReport.com's Renaissance Fair Rocker will fit that one into his rhymes about pointy slippers and green wool tights.

Under the Bush administration, the FTC repeatedly fined the folks behind freecreditreport.com for deceptive advertising, since you only get the "free" report after enrolling in a $15-a-month credit monitoring program. But the fines amounted to mere wrist-slaps.

The new rule is good news for consumer advocates.

For too long, FreeCreditReport.com has taken advantage of a weak consent decree negotiated by the Bush FTC that has let it confuse consumers into buying its over-priced, unneeded subscription credit monitoring product that isn't free. Consumers have wasted millions buying a service that doesn't prevent identity theft and doesn't raise your credit score, sold by one of the companies whose sloppy practices make identity theft easy and keeping your credit score accurate, harder.

A New Threat: Federal Control of All U.S. Water - S. 787

April 2, 2009, right as the Senate was leaving for spring break, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) and 23 co-sponsors introduced legislation that would amend the Clean Water Restoration Act (S. 787), which is similar to legislation introduced in the 110th Congress. Passage of the bill would change the term “navigable waters” to say “waters of the United States”

“(25) WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES.—

‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—The term ‘waters of the United States’ means all waters subject to the ebb and flow of the tide, the territorial seas, and all interstate and intrastate waters (including tributaries of those waters), to the maximum extent that those waters, or activities affecting those waters, are subject to the legislative power of Congress under the Constitution.

‘‘(B) INCLUSIONS.—The term ‘waters of the United States’ includes lakes, rivers, streams (including intermittent streams), mudflats, sandflats, wetlands, sloughs, prairie potholes, wet meadows, playa lakes, and natural ponds, and all impoundments of those waters.’’

What does this mean to you and me? This legislation will require a Clean Water Act permit for gutters, driveways, culverts, agricultural ditches, farm ponds and roadside ditches would dramatically increase the time required to process permits and create a backlog of projects. The bill also adds “all activities affecting these waters” a land use control provision that appears to be with out limits.

That means that the federal government can say that your favorite fishing hole (even though it is on your property) is now off limits, or your cattle grazing near the pond, marsh can no longer be there. You can no longer take the kids from the youth group down the river for the annual raft trip. The rain that has been collected on the rain buckets to water your garden is federal water and subject to a permit!

The real goal of the Clean Water Restoration Act (S787) is to give Corps and EPA Control over your water and all your watersheds. That means National Land Use Controls as well as control over all your water and land.

Farmers, Ranchers and private land owners have been taking care of all assets of their land and that includes water resources. They have maintained, nurtured, terraced against erosion, reserved runoff, and have been diligent custodians of ponds and creeks for generations as anyone would do when they have a invested interest.

This bill will have a huge impact on business, agriculture, small communities, rural America, farming, ranching and all private lands. It will overturn the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001.

Give this bill any name you want, the Clean Water Restoration Act is NOT about clean water, it IS about expansion & consolidation of federal power. It's about federal attempts to micromanage private property around the country. It's about More BIG Government. It's unConstitutional.

CWRA (S787) will vastly expand the jurisdiction of the Corps of Engineers and the EPA. That would give the government jurisdiction over nearly all private and Federal land. It will also give them the right to Trespass.

What do YOU do? Begin by calling your Senators; tell them to not support S. 787 “The Clean Water Restoration Act”. You can call any Senator at (202) 224-3121. Then focus on the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

I will make this easy for you.... CLICK HERE to find any elected official!!

Solar storms ahead: Is Earth prepared?

Updated: May 13, 2009 09:39 AM EDT

Solar flares are a product of the sun's complex chemistry, says Haimin Wang, director of the Space Weather Research Lab at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. The internal processes of the sun create whirlpools of magnetic force, which slightly lower the surface temperature of the sun, causing what we see as sunspots.

Every 11 years, the sun flips its magnetic north and south. This swap churns up an increased number of sunspots, with the next volatile peak due in 2012. Magnetic energy can build up on the solar surface and then suddenly be released in a massive burst.

This flare, a wave of particles moving at near the speed of light, arrives at Earth shortly after the light itself, which takes about eight minutes to cross the 93 million miles. In other words, sky-watchers won't know there has been a solar flare until shortly before the radiation arrives.

The burst poses little risk to people on the ground. However, airplanes at cruising altitude and spacecraft are much more vulnerable. The flash also can zap electronics on satellites, which lie entirely outside the safety of Earth's atmosphere.

While this initial burst can be dangerous, there's a much slower wave of energy - a coronal mass ejection (CME) - that really can mess with electronics.

Not every flare produces a CME, and they often occur when no flare is present. When they do spew out, CMEs send strong waves of electromagnetic force our way. The most visible signs of this are the colorful northern and southern lights. But it also has more serious consequences.

For one, it can cause electrical transformers to trip or fail, which can lead to widespread power outages. A particularly powerful CME storm hit Earth in 1921, before electricity played as big a role in daily life. If a burst of similar magnitude hit today, it would interrupt power for as many as 130 million people, according to a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences. In 1989, a geomagnetic storm knocked out power to 6 million people in Quebec.

CMEs also can cause the Earth's atmosphere to expand temporarily. This can cause low-orbit satellites, such as the constellation of Global Positioning System markers used for navigation, to drag in the denser air. Combined with changes in the transmission of radio waves caused by CMEs, this can lead to errors in positioning. The magnetic field also can induce glitches or even damage satellites.

As scientists gather more information, satellite companies have a few tricks to protect their space-bound electronics. It's hard to determine the effectiveness of shielding - mostly because experts don't fully know what the sun is capable of spewing out. Another satellite defense would be "safe modes," where administrators turn off most of the on-board electronics to protect it from going haywire. This can save the satellite but would interrupt whatever services it offered. Safe modes also require some kind of early warning - technology that is nascent at best.

Lights Out

Lights Out

After reading a great book puplished for FREE via the internet
called LIGHTS OUT....I have tuned-in my mind, my ears and have become more aware of current articles like the one above. Articles that should be on the front page of any newspaper. There are subtle hints mentioned on the radio and the papers, but not Headliners.
All you have to do is listen with a keen ear. There are things about pending economy failure, job loss and massive unemployment, business and bank failures, water quality, lack of border control and illegals, Soc.Sec and healthcare, ....all things that any 'One' or combination of, could break down and decimate the civility of the people of America, if they are not prepared.

Read this enlightening book LIGHTS OUT by HalfFast by going to HERE.

and then ask yourself how prepared you are to take care of your family, survive in any storm and just what kind of American you will be when it is over.

Sick of Bush Bashing!

"The biggest failures of the Bush administration began the day the liberals took over Washington in 2007, when Democrats won the majority in Congress. When Bush took office in 2000 the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) stood at a respectful 11,722. When the Liberals took over Washington in January 2007 the market stood at 12,600. This is remarkable, since historically, during wartime, the economy suffers terribly. The all time record high on the Dow hit 14,164 on October 9, 2007, but by then the damage caused by from the meaty hands of the Liberals started to take effect and by the time Bush left office the Dow had fallen to about 9,000, and news of the Obama win made the market crash to its lowest levels in decades - the lowest percentage drops in history.

This all happened under a Liberally controlled Washington. Beginning 2007 Bush had very little control over the actions of Washington. Lets face it, Bush was not really a conservative, nor was he much of a true leader. Sure he did fairly well protecting us, kept the economy and budget within reason, but being lame and lame again as in lame duck, he spent most of his time following the pac, which after 2006 was the Libs! Obama and the Dems should be careful how they bend history!

Colin Powell - Out of Touch

Colin Powell, keep on talking! I'm not going to tell You to shut the hell up!
Maybe you have a problem with jumping ship, switching sides, being a turncoat or maybe you don't have the sphincter that Specter has, so if you are defecting to the middle...do it and quit pretending to be a problem solver for the GOP.
Colin Powell has lost my respect. The more he tells others to 'shut up' and become more moderate, the more he shows us where his true loyalty lies...not many Republicans endorsed Obama, but he did. He makes comments about Rush’s words and tells all the vocal conservatives to tone it down and wait until the 'master plan' for the Republican party is announced. OK...haven't we been doing that for years? Why can't he spend his media time talking up the Good, the positive things the Republicans are doing in Washington. Talk about the ones who are fighting the good fight, the ones who show up and champion a bill that reflects the New GOP. Showcase a new face that might be worth supporting in 2012.
“Americans are looking for more government in their lives, not less,” he said. “Americans do want to pay taxes for services.”
With comments like that, he shows just how 'out of touch' he really is. If the man cannot do something positive, maybe he needs to stop talking period.....or attend a Tea Party or two and listen to some normal people!

Get Yourself Ready!

You can talk all you want about the economy, the direction the Government is headed, Trillions in Bailout expenditures, stock market crashes, and other big stuff. Your family is only one small catastrophe away from going hungry!
Here's a radio cast-Youtube that explains the need.

Reasons to Store Food

The only sure thing about the future is that there is no sure thing. Storing food for your family is one of the most prudent actions you can take. No one knows what can or will affect the functioning of society or food distribution. With stored food, you eliminate the worry.

The attention of the nation is focusing more intensely, each week, on families storing quantities of emergency food and water in their homes. Why?

Potential disruptions in the food supply can be caused by a number of factors:

Economic Downturn
Quarantines/Riots
Erratic Weather - Droughts
Earthquakes, Hurricanes and Floods
Job Loss/Unemployment
Contamination of Food Supplies
To Avoid Dependency on Commercial Food Storage Centers
Transportation Disruptions
